Frequently asked questions about anxiety therapy

FAQs

  • Anxiety therapy help you to understand and manage the thoughts, feelings and behaviors that contribute to overwhelming worry, fear and stress.

Anxiety therapy with us focuses on two parts: things that trigger your anxiety and the way that you think about those triggers. In therapy, we will examine both sides to see how we can reduce triggers and build coping skills to improve your response to them.

  • Anxiety therapy is a good fit if your worry feels persistent, interferes with your daily life, or leaves you feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unable to fully enjoy relationships, work, or school. If you are struggling to manage anxious thoughts on your own, therapy can give you structure, tools and support.

While I cannot make any guarantees, I have found both professionally and personally that talking through scary and uncomfortable situations helps to lighten their impact.

  • Your first therapy session is all about getting to know you. We will talk about your history, symptoms, current challenges, and what you hope to change. It’s a safe, confidential space to share your story, ask questions, and begin building a personalized plan for your anxiety treatment.

  • Every person’s journey is different. Some people feel relief in just a few weeks; others find meaningful change over months of consistent work. Anxiety therapy focuses on steady progress rather than quick fixes, helping you build skills that last.

  • Anxiety can take many forms including generalized daily anxiety, panic attacks, social anxiety, worry about upcoming changes, performance anxiety and anxious thoughts tied to relationships or self-criticism.

Regardless of what anxiety looks like for you, we will meet you where you are and create a personalized treatment plan to help you achieve your goals.

  • We can discuss medication if you want to — many clients find therapy helpful alongside medication, while others begin with therapy alone.

I won’t prescribe medication (that’s done by a psychiatrist or primary care provider), but I can help you understand options and support coordination with other providers.

  • Yes — I offer anxiety therapy in many formats: virtual, hybrid, and in-office sessions, so you can choose the setting that feels most comfortable and accessible for you.

  • That uncertainty is totally normal. Many people aren’t sure therapy will work — the first step is just talking. Therapy gives you tools, perspective, and support to understand why anxiety feels so overwhelming and how to shift your experience over time.
