Therapists Who Specialize in Christian Counseling

Hi, I’m Kandis!

Availability: Accepting New Clients

I’m a Licensed Masters Social Worker (LMSW) who also holds Christian values and believes that faith belongs in the healing journey.

For those who want it, I can integrate prayer and biblical truths into the counseling process. If you prefer a more secular approach, I honor that too - our work together will always reflect your needs and values.

Rooted in hope. Guided by faith. Focused on you.

What makes Christian or Faith Based Therapy Different?

Christian therapy integrates evidenced based counseling approaches with principles and values based in biblical truths. It takes a holistic approach by considering emotional, mental and spiritual well-being together. In therapy, we will use clinical therapeutic tools while still leaving space for prayer, Scripture and faith based beliefs when appropriate and desired by you.

Christian Therapy may be a good fit if…

  • Your faith is an important part of your life.

  • You desire prayer and spiritual meditations as a part of your healing journey.

  • You want a therapist who shares your Christian values and perspective.

“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?”

Isiah 43:19 (NIV)

Frequently asked questions about Christian therapy

FAQs

  • Christian therapy is provided by a licensed mental health professional who uses clinical, research-backed practices. While faith may be included, sessions focus on mental health treatment rather than spiritual direction alone. Pastoral counseling is typically provided by clergy.

  • Only if you would like that. Some clients appreciate prayer and Scripture, while others prefer a more traditional therapy approach with faith sprinkled in. You always have control over how your beliefs and values are integrated.

  • You are welcome here. Christian therapy is a safe space to explore doubts, wounds, or spiritual confusion without judgement. Therapy can help you process these experiences in a healthy, respectful way.

  • A session looks very similar to traditional therapy, including talking through concerns, developing coping skills and setting goals. I may prompt you with a scripture verse that applies to your situation or invite you to participate in a brief prayer or spiritual meditation. You always have the option to decline or otherwise adjust the use of your spirituality in our sessions.

  • That depends on you. For some clients, faith is central—we may incorporate prayer, Scripture, or discussions about their relationship with God. For others, faith plays a more subtle role through values, meaning, and identity. You get to decide how much or how little faith is included.
