Licensed Masters Social Worker
Evidenced based strategies to help you rebuild your connection and fall in love again.
We might be a good fit if…
You want to feel seen and understood by your partner.
I can teach you how to actually communicate at a deeper level. No more conversations that start and end with “How was your day?”
You can’t remember the last time you were intimate.
I can help you navigate the hard conversations, so you get to the root of the issue. You feel connected and that shows up both inside and outside the bedroom.
You can’t stop arguing about the dishes (or the laundry, kids, etc).
Together, we can create a system that distributes your household duties equitably. You can have both a clean house and a peaceful relationship.
Life is hard. Starting therapy should be easy.

Hi, I’m Kandis!
I know good relationships take work. But sometimes we don’t have the role models or foundations to know exactly what that work entails. That’s where I come in!
As your couple’s therapist, I commit to meeting you where you are and giving you both the space to feel your feelings without judgement. I believe that honesty, trust and commitment are crucial for therapy to be successful. I promise to bring those things into the therapy space as well as hold you accountable for those traits too.
Have questions? No problem! Use the link below to schedule a free 15-minute consultation with me so I can give you any info you need to make the best decision for you.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Couples counseling provides a neutral space for couples to explore challenges, improve communication, and reconnect emotionally. In our sessions, we focus on building trust between partners, identifying patterns that may be causing conflict, and learning tools to work through disagreements in healthy, respectful ways.
Sessions are typically done with both spouses with some individual sessions. Couples counseling works best when both spouses are ready to make lasting changes that will improve the marriage.
-
While I tailor every session to my client’s needs, I tend to draw from evidence-based approaches like the Gottman Method, which focuses on improving communication, managing conflict, and strengthening emotional connection.

Good Faith Estimate
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” that details how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services. This will be provided to you, upon request, prior to starting services.
-
Many couples start therapy when they feel stuck in repeated arguments, disconnected, or unsure how to move forward. You don’t have to be in crisis—couples counseling can also help strengthen a relationship that’s “mostly good” but could be better.
-
It helps, but it’s not required at the beginning. It’s common for one partner to feel more ready than the other. Therapy can still be a helpful starting point to explore concerns and build mutual understanding.

Yes - I offer virtual, hybrid and in-office sessions (at our Metairie office) so you can choose what works best for your situation and schedule.

All sessions are strictly confidential and protected under professional ethical guidelines as outlined by the Louisiana Board of Social Work Examiners and the National Association of Social Workers.
We also use a secure electronic health record system and client portal for communication and scheduling.
-
While we cannot make any guarantees, I have found both professionally and personally that talking through scary and uncomfortable situations helps to lighten their impact.
-
The first session is about getting the full picture. We’ll talk about your relationship history, current challenges, and what each of you wants to improve. From there, we’ll create a shared plan for moving forward.
-
It depends on your goals and what you’re working through. Some couples notice small shifts within a few sessions, while deeper healing takes more time. The focus is on steady, meaningful progress—not quick fixes.
-
No. Couples counseling is not about choosing sides—it’s about understanding patterns and helping both partners feel heard. My role is to support the relationship and create a space where both of you can communicate more effectively.
-
That’s okay. Couples counseling can help you gain clarity about your relationship, improve communication, and make thoughtful, intentional decisions—whether that means strengthening your relationship or navigating next steps with care.
